THE COURAGE WITHIN ME

“The Courage Within Me” is a multi-panel, moveable, collaborative work of art that is part of the permanent collection at the REACh john f. kennedy center in washington, D.C. In collaboration with the Kennedy Center Education program, local teaching artists, and students from four classrooms spanning D.C., we created a design that demonstrates how they define courage. The work answers to the following questions: How do you define courage?; What gives you courage?; Why is having courage important in this world?; Who is the most courageous person that you know? A total of 180 panels reveals the writings and paintings of the students. REACH visitors will be able to move the panels that can either be aligned to form one large image or moved to reveal the individual artworks and messages of the participants.
